I've been the proud Ambassador for Hospice New Zealand since 1999.
This is a voluntary role which rakes me to many events throughout the country each year.
There are a lot of people who don't understand what hospice is all about and part of my role is to help educate the public. Hospice is not a building; it is a philosophy of care. The goal is to help people make the most of their lives.
Hospice cares for the whole person, not just the physical needs but also the emotional, spiritual, and social needs too. They care for families and friends as well, both before and after death. Irrespective of where they are, this philosophy of care does not change and everything they provide is free of charge. We believe that hospice care should be available to anyone who needs it, helping people make the most of their lives, in whatever way works for them
It is my pleasure to work with Hospice New Zealand and to continue serving as its Ambassador! If you or anyone in your family needs the help of a hospice, or if you want to make a donation to Hospice New Zealand or any individual hospice, feel free to visit their website. >
